JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

Hi everyone.  Another pretty day here before we get rain tomorrow.  After coffee I went over and picked up our Nigerian grandson, who is spending the day with us.  We will go out for lunch.

Hi everyone on this Sunday morning.  It is a cool and rainy morning today and is suppose to rain, sometimes heavily, all day.  We plan on going to church this morning.  We had a nice time with our Nigerian grandson.  Pat and he played a game and then we went to lunch and came back and they played the game more while I rested.  He said several times how much he enjoyed the day.  Tomorrow is his 18th birthday.

I just got this and decided it was well worth sharing as it certainly is "food for thought":

A friend of mine opened his wife's underwear drawer and picked up a silk paper wrapped
package:

'This, - he said - isn't any ordinary package.'

He unwrapped the box and stared at both the silk paper and the box.

'She got this the first time we went to New York , 8 or 9 years ago. She has never put it on, was saving it for a
special occasion.

Well, I guess this is it.

He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothing he was taking to the funeral house, his wife had
just died.

He turned to me and said:

'Never save something for a special occasion.

Every day in your life is a special occasion'.

I still think those words changed my life.

Now I read more and clean less.

I sit on the porch without worrying about anything.

I spend more time with my family, and less at work.

I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived up to, not survived through.

I no longer keep anything.

I use crystal glasses every day...

I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if I feel like it.

I don't save my special perfume for special occasions, I use it whenever I want to.

The words 'Someday....' and 'One Day...' are fading away from my dictionary.

If it's worth seeing, listening or doing, I want to see, listen or do it now....

I don't know what my friend's wife would have done if she knew she wouldn't be there the
next morning, this nobody can tell.

I think she might have called her relatives and closest friends. She might call old friends to
make peace over past quarrels.

I'd like to think she would go out for Chinese, her favorite food.

It's these small things that I would regret not doing, if I knew my time had come..

Each day, each hour, each minute, is special.

Live for today, for tomorrow is promised to no-one..

Carol

Larry:  Spot on with your sharing of food for thought.  I did the same thing - being engaged and I had a working trip to New York and spent $ on a lovely nightgown - did not wear it for years.  It is so luxurious, too nice for me.  :)  Glad to read that someone else took note of such a waste.  Very nice for Pat and you to adopt your young man - he is privileged to know you.

Sunday morning here and it was too icy on the streets to get out until the sun came out.  Then, we had to make a trip to the dreaded grocery store - lost a husband in one of the aisles for some time, he was wearing his blue jacket and I had visualized him wearing a tan jacket.  Duh!  Should know better.  This is a crazy week with too many appointments plus company on Tuesday night and then Thanksgiving with the children here.  New fridge being delivered.  I dread this week until Thanksgiving Day.

Strength and peace for all of you this up and coming season.  Everything seems hyper-speed.

Hi everyone.  I am late getting here this morning as I had to go for my pacemaker/defibrillator routine check, leaving early from coffee.  The tech made a change so that it would vibrate if the device notices something isn't quite right and also adjusted a setting that he said may help give me more stamina, which will be most welcome.  Otherwise, all was fine.  The housekeepers just left to go over my my neighbors house where they do some cleaning.  Pat is getting her massage.  She called me as I was on the way home and told me my PT Cruiser is leaking oil.  So I called and will take and leave my car to get the problem attended it.  It was only two months ago I had new seals put in so hope this won't be expensive since it hasn't been three months.  Pat and I will go out to eat as we normally do on Monday's.  Yesterday it rained and rained and rained.  Today is beautiful and going up to around 70 degrees.  I will attend a meeting tonight after resting this afternoon after lunch.

I have read all of the postings since yesterday, most of them sitting at the Kaiser office awaiting them to call me.  So am not making any individual comments today.

Will anyone be putting up the Christmas decorations  this weekend?

I am going to buy a small growing Blue spruce and set that up with a few decorations and our Christmas village all around on the table in from of the bay windows in the living room. Not going all out this year will keep the cats from trying to play with the balls hanging from the tree.

I think I will take a week off from the gym to get my pain level either gone or at least tolerable. I went to the chiropractor twice last week and will again today before I go to work It is my neck this time and the C-5,6 and 7 vertebrae. Thus has been an ongoing problem with me for many years. It come and it goes.

Freckles is doing very well and thinks she is my lap dog, good thing she only weighs 28 lbs and is small in size. I am going to  work with her together Canine Good citizenship Certificate then train her for her Therapy dog certification. She is such a well behaved dog and already know many commands.

I apologize for being late this week with opening our new "Thoughts for the Week!"  I didn't get a reminder from my friendly reminder-er!!!!

I've had a very rough few weeks.  I've had 5 close friends pass away and it's taking a bit to realize that I won't be speaking to them any more.  I'm also getting a new furnace in the house.  The gas line has been ordered and then the furnace will be coming but I don't have any ducts in my house as this has been a baseboard heater home since it was built so what a job I've been having trying to get rid of clutter.  It's no easy job.

Anyway, here's a link to our new "Thoughts for the Week" and I hope you'll all appreciate that I used one of Alan Moaks wonderful devotions on the Psalms.
