Morning Devotional...

Afraid of Failing
David Jeremiah

The Lord ... never fails.

Zephaniah 3:5

Look up the word "fail" in a thesaurus and you'll find terms like: blunder, break down, fall, fizzle, flop, flounder, fold, lose out, and disappoint. These are strongly negative words, and sometimes we're so afraid of them we don't move forward in the endeavors God has for us. What would you do today that you aren't doing if you knew you could not fail? When fear of failure keeps us from moving forward in faith, fear has won.

While we can't guarantee that all our projects and ambitions will end successfully (as we define "success"), we can be certain that God's plan for our lives will be fulfilled as we trust Him. Zephaniah 3:5 says, "The LORD is righteous in her midst, He will do no unrighteousness. Every morning He brings His justice to light; He never fails."

Don't worry about success or failure. Concentrate on trusting God and obeying Him. Move forward, knowing He never blunders, breaks down, falls, fizzles, flops, flounders, folds, loses out, or disappoints.

He never fails.

Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; as Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;

Refrain:
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto me.

Summer and winter and spring-time and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Refrain

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Good evening everyone, Just stopping by to mark my sport and see what everyone has been doing the last two days.

Janet I hope you get all your repairs done before it starts getting a lot colder. (Winter)

Hi everyone.  We had an extremely rainy night with flash flood warnings issued for our county.  However, this morning the sun is shining brightly and we are not suppose to get above 65 today.  Last evening our son called saying they were coming over to see us today (we haven't seen them since Christmas) and since he had been in the hospital last week we figured they would not be coming.  So we are looking forward to a nice day with them and will go to the local Pancake House for lunch.

Jeanne, thanks for the devotional thoughts for this week.

Marilyn, glad you stopped by as this has been a pretty quiet discussion the last few days.

Jeanne Lee

Larry, I know you must be looking forward to your son's visit and I know you and Pat will enjoy the day.

We have a wind advisory in effect until 8:00 this evening, and possible heavy rains as well.  The last couple of days it has been a bit warmer than "normal" and following this rain/wind spell it's supposed to be more fall like.  The wind is sure taking the leaves from the trees - all sorts of colors flying around.

Marilyn, good to see a word or two from you.  :)

Thanks, Marilyn, I hope we get finished with the repairs soon, too.  Where are the rest of our "regulars?"  I miss them!

I am working on typing up the stories of those who have returned their questionnaires.  Need Pat to respond to an email as I have run into a problem on the site.

Larry, so glad to hear your son is going to come, and that he is out of the hospital and apparently doing well.  Have a good visit!  Yes, Lexi just turned six, so she should be able to ride that shiny new bike before too long!

We need to go to town to do a few errands.  See you all later!

Hello my friends.

It has been a dull and dreary few days and yes the sun is still not showing.
Last evening we met out daughter at the half way mark yes Tim Horton's. Lots of sharing to be sure.
Our son has just finished working 12 days straight of night shift but now he is hoping to be back to normal hours, night shift is not for him.

Marilyn: I have been away longer than 2 days but good to see you and I like your new you picture.

Larry:  A visit with your children is so warming.

Janet:  I am still working on completing the story in fact I need to go back and make some changes.

Pat: Thanks for the email I now you enjoyed the fall colors.

Hey the sun has just peeked out.

Janet

Thanks, Ruth.  I appreciate your working on the questions.

Well, Lon still hasn't shown up.  He is NOT making me happy today.  >:(  I worked so hard getting things ready for him, too.  He did call while I was at the gym, Darrel said he said he "had something he needed to do and would be here around noon."  NOT.

We got out some suitcases and did most of our packing last night.  We leave on the bus trip for Florida early Thursday morning.

Here I am again, LOL. Went to work early today as the Dr. and Tech had to be on the road by noon for a 5 day conference in Reno. So I was home by noon.

thanks Ruth for the compliment on my new avatar.

Larry and Jeanne I try to check in at least every other day just to keep up with the rest of y'all.

Hi, friends,

Well, I can <giggle> plan on at least another year with everyone -- the doctor told me to set up an appointment for this time next year!!

Now, if another one of those spinal pain block injections works tomorrow, life will be quite good. :)

Yesterday was one of those really busy days. Church, lunch with friends, some errands in the afternoon and an early dinner at my daughter's home. I really love her hubby's mom, and yesterday was her 70th birthday. So, we had a lovely time of it. After getting home, a couple of calls with friends, thus making a VERY full day.

It's nice to be retired so if one day proves to be too full, we can opt for an easier day "tomorrow." :)

Y'all have a good rest of the day, friends.

Ruth Ann

I'm here ... part of the time, at least!  I am still stuck in California and not liking it very much at all.  Too much business to take care of and no one is being co-operative.  It's a whole lot of "hurry up and wait" .... and I don't wait too well!  >:(

Janet, it will be a while before I will be able to get to your questions ... sorry.

For some reason I am very tired (near exhaustion) lately, and really wish I were on my way home to peaceful Coos Bay, OR.

Hope springs eternal, "they" say .... Some day.....

Hi everyone.  It is still too early for the sun to come up but think it will be a nice day.  Yesterday was just beautiful.  We had a very pleasant visit with our son and DIL.  Our poor DIL does not look well at all and is so thin it looks like skin on bones.  She has gone from one extreme to another.  Our son looked good after his few days in the hospital.  He is returning to work this morning as his restriction period is over yesterday and he will be able to fully perform his work responsibilities.

My activities for today will involve attending a meeting this morning and contacting Office Depot and probably Lenovo to see what to do about Pat's new computer that is now a brick as it won't start up.  If I feel up to it after the meeting I need to stop and get an estimate from the body shop on repairing the damage to my car that the deer did a few weeks ago.  The man who is replacing our windows came back for a couple of minutes yesterday to remeasure the thickness of the glass as when he got back to his shop he wasn't sure of his own writing, but had read his writing correctly.  He had already ordered the glass but said they don't start to fill the order for a couple of days so if he found he had made a mistake there was time to change it. That will be it for today.  Both the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves lost last night.  This puts the Braves out of the playoffs once again after a great season.

Jeanne, Pat had some roast beef in the refrigerator so quickly made a delicious beef stew that we had for lunch rather than going out to eat.  They seemed to enjoy it.  It sounds like fall is arriving in a big way in the mountains.

Janet, I didn't realize Lexi was six already as I remember when she was born and just didn't realize that much time had passed.  No wonder she was thrilled by her new bike.

Ruth, those dreary days so become downers for us don't they.  It is amazing what seeing the sun does to our spirits.  I don't blame your son for not liking the night shift and know it wouldn't be for me either.  For several years Pat worked as a LP nurse at a big hospital in Kansas City and did the night shift.  Glad you were able to have a nice lunch with your daughter.  We have several times met our son and DIL at a halfway place and shared a meal and visited.  However, they came on over here yesterday.  It takes them almost three hours each way to come to the house.

Janet, glad to read that Darrel is feeling up to making that long bus trip to Florida.

Marilyn, it sounds like you should get five days off also if the Dr. and Tech will be away.

Ruth Ann, good news from your doctor.  You did have a busy Sunday.  Hope you are rested up and agree it is nice to not have to worry about missing work when we are not feeling our best.

Jane, when I saw your posting I just knew you were writing from your home.  Hope your business soon gets resolved so you can get back to your home.

Carol

Good Tuesday!  I filled in almost all of the answers to Janet's questions.  She is off to Florida now - that sounds terrific.  Ruth Ann has the right idea - the doctor makes a yearly appointment so she is sticking around - we all want her to stick around a lot longer than a year.  Jane is stuck in California and yearning to get home - after all, there is no place like home.

Here, I will have to call a really nice neighbor and check in - she was going with us this morning and has not called and it is usually forgetfulness.  We can easily work around it this day - sure do worry about her being alone though as it is becoming more and more apparent that her memory needs some jogging ever since her husband died last year.

Larry:  Thanks for the information on newer cell phones.  We keep checking things out.  It would be really nice to have an iPhone with a built in GPS - but our own separate GPS is unconscious at times and useless - in fact, wrong.

Janet

Carol, Janet is still here--for another day anyway.  We leave Thursday morning.  Thanks for working on the questions.  I got another story typed up and ready, sent back to the member for any needed corrections.  I am needing Pat to contact me, as I cannot post anything in the spot she opened for me.

Jane, hope your business is soon completed and you can go home.  As Carol said, there's no place like home. (Just ask Dorothy!  ;) )

Larry, I'm sure you remember Abby.  I used to post so many photos of her when she was small.  Now she is "Sweet Sixteen" and so grown up, in looks, at least.  So I surely know what you mean about how fast time goes by!  Glad you had a nice visit with son and wife, hope you can do that more often.  We just need to keep in close contact with our families, and "so much more as we see the day approaching."  My youngest grandson, Addison, is graduating this weekend from Basic Training in the Air Force.  He is in San Antonio, and his mom Kerri and brother Justin are flying down for the event.  Yep, time flies!

Jane, when you can work on the questions, I will be here.  If not, forward them care of Jesus, in Heaven!

Ruth Ann, it is good to have busy days, not so busy days and do-nothing days!  It all balances out!

I would appreciate everyone agreeing with me in prayer for restful nights of sleep.  Thanks.

Hello friends:

Today is a magnificent day.  I left earlier for the apple orchard to pick up a bag of mixed apples to do some baking and hope to have enough left over for apple sauce and if not back to the orchard for more apples.

I them stopped at No Frills and Tim's on my way home. On arrival home I found that hubby could not change a belt on the riding tractor without needing a band aide.

Well, just thought I'd check in, let y'all know I'm still alive.  Things are pretty much the same here from day to day, but I do enjoy reading y'alls news. God bless each of you!!

Carol

Hello Pastor Al!  It is super to hear from you.  Keep in touch often.  You have been a guiding light for this one.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  A most glorious day here with clear skies and a temp not to exceed 75 degrees with low humidity.  We went to Bible study and then to coffee with the group.  Pat has a massage this afternoon and that is it for us today.

Hi Al, good to see you posting and also saw a posting today from Papa John in the old B&T Yahoo board.

Janet, I do remember Abby very well and much you enjoyed your time with her.

Carol, sure you will find the phone you are looking for as there are certainly plenty of them out there.  Since I have a data plan, which is required with a smart phone, it has LTE so I can access the Internet from anywhere when I am not in range for wi_fi.  I use it often.  It comes with the ATT (and some other carriers) where the have LTE and is very fast and always available.

Good to see all the postings.

Marilyn

Hello everyone,  Hey Al it is so good to see a post from you. I've missed you.

Not much new here, I am thinking abut making a Mobius scarf. That is one of those twisted, endless cowl type scarves for those who don't know what they are, I haven't decided whether to knit or crochet. but will probably crochet.

Darrel had another follow-up app't with his doctor today.  He says he is doing well, and not to be impatient, as recovery takes about three months.  He advised getting a donut cushion for him for the trip, which we did.  We are to leave Hugoton at 7 AM tomorrow.  See you all in 20 days!  I'm not taking my computer along this time, just my Kindle, loaded with lots of books!

Hi everyone.  The sun is up as I slept in a bit later than normal.  I plan on being home all day and my big project will be to try to deal with Lenovo on Pat's new computer.  Pat has a dental appointment and then is meeting a friend for lunch.

Mrilyn, thanks for explaining what that Moblus scarf is as I had no idea.

Janet should be on her way to Florida now as it is after 7 am her time.  Hope they have a restful and most enjoyable vacation.  That is a long time to be away.

Ruth

Hello friends.   :coffee:

Pastor Al;  Good to meet you here again.

Larry:  Keep on keeping on.

Marilyn: Is the scarf done yet?

A lovely day and I understand it is to continue through the weekend. I had an appointment earlier in the day. I encountered 3 places of construction which did a wonderful job on slowing the traffic flow.  A time to learn patience.

I had started to answer more of Janet's questions ,for some unknown reason the delete was activated -- now to start over again.

I had a terrible nights rest so needles to say I am tired.

Ruth:  Isn't that the most frustrating thing when you lose what you are writing before it is posted?

Winter chill is returning right now along with high winds predicted.

My knitting is at a standstill - short about a half skein - and that place is shut down now so a new shop should be able to help me.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Another beautiful day here in Georgia with a cool morning and it is suppose to warm up this afternoon to about 80 degrees.  After coffee at the senior center this morning I took the car to get an estimate to repair the damage done when the deer ran into it a few weeks ago.  I will only be having a new fuel door put on as one corner of it was broken off.  To take out the dent would cost around $800 and as the paint isn't broken and the dent isn't particularly noticeable nor does it have any impact on the operation of the car we will just live with it.  This evening we have been invited out to friends where we will have a steak dinner fixed on the grill.  Yesterday I finally got some resolution on Pat's new computer.  I won't bore you with details but the end result was I have in-home repair so a tech will be coming with a new hard drive, motherboard and cable.  So by this time next week hopefully it will be fixed.

Ruth, you are right we have to "keep on keeping on".  We get caught in traffic and just have to be patient as you experienced yesterday.  Hope you rested better last night.

Carol, do you have a problem with the quilting shops and yarn places going out of business after you get used to using them?  Several of the quilt shops have closed around our area, including the one closest to us.

Carol

Sunny here, winds have been light at our house but some roads closed due to power lines down & semis overturned.  The usual for this area.

Scott Carpenter died yesterday -  such a good man.

Larry:  Yes, it is shocking at the loss of quilt and knitting shops.  They have a good amount of customers but taxes and new regulations keep popping up the last few years people just don't have the extra spendable money.  Good wishes on having a techie repairing Pat's new computer.  Are you wondering if it is a lemon?  It can happen.

My project today is to unpacked boxes of blue willow china and take pictures of it to post on C - List for locals.  It has 12 plates so someone may need these for their Thanksgiving.  The children don't want it - isn't that a shock?  The other day, I unpacked glasses that were a wedding gift from my sis-in-law, and she has been gone for years so now I think it is OK to sell that if possible?

We had to ship an overnight letter - actually a lot of signed papers - to the mountains on our property and the cost was almost $40.  The closing is Tuesday and it takes forever for those people to do their job but they demand our papers immediately - this will be such a relief.  All this is because of new regulations - there is such a blockage you will find when you have to sell or buy any property now.  Weeks of delays.  Still, we are happy to not have the job of keeping up a mountain place especially this time of the year.

Carol

Thanks for the song, "Great is thy Faithfulness".  Ever faithful

Hours of work in the basement and bring dishes up and setting the table, taking pictures and repacking all but a few pieces.  The aim is to post this on Craigslist.  Yuk but what can a person do?  A garage sale is out of the question as more than a few show up just to case the neighborhood.  I figure people who look at dishes and glassware are not coming armed.... I fell asleep for a few minutes.  So, now another storm is coming so we will just stay in the house and not run errands.  Don has been diligently categorizing family pictures and he is going to make DVD's to send to nieces as well as each of our family.  Daughter is flying in right now - hearing thunder.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone. It is still dark outside but have a few minutes before having to leave to pick up my friend for coffee at McDonald's.  We had a lovely time last night at our friends home.  They are most gracious people.  We enjoyed a great steak dinner with baked potatoe and salad plus a homemake hummingbird cake with ice cream for dessert.  Needless to say the scales screamed a little when I got on them this morning.  We didn't get home until 9:30 or after, which is really late for us to be out.  This morning we have a man from the floor covering/appliance store coming to measure floors for new coverings.  Yesterday, Pat dropped it on me that she wants to replace all of our carpet, except the bedrooms, with new laminate flooring that looks very much like wood.  I shudder to think what will be required in moving the furniture but someone else will have to do it as I would last about 5 minutes or so.  The flooring people will move the furniture but we must unload everything.  It will be a good time to weed out somethings but don't know how successful that will be.  So redoing the kitchen flooring and putting in a new stove and microwave project has suddenly taken on new and expensive proportions.  This afternoon we have tickets to a play at the Aurora Theater to see our second play of the season.  It is not one I have ever heard of but hope it will be good.

Carol, glad you haven't had the strong winds in your area.  You all are subject to a lot of extreme and changing weather.  Pat's computer may be a lemon with will have all new parts when the repairs are made assuming he puts in all the parts ordered.  When our son and DIL were here last Monday we began the discussion about a few small things we would like to have stay in the family but when the time comes they can have whatever they want. Pat and I are beginning to discuss the reality that we may not be able to stay in this house too many more years.  Hope all your paperwork is done on the sale of your cabin.

Marilyn

Hello everyone. I see it is about time I said something instead of just coming to ready all y'all's posts. Not much new here. We did a Walmart run this morning for a few things. I have been busy zipping up some graphic files and sending them to a friend of mine. That sure took a lot of time.

Larry that sound like and expensive project. I sure would like to have all the rugs removed from some of the rooms here, but that is not my decision to make.

Carol you can never be too careful about who comes to your house for sale of any kind.

Hi, friends,

I'm back again. :)

Those back pain block shots are a long ways apart. So, days come when I can't stay at the computer.

I'm praying for 2 very private concerns - one for someone's health (that person is dear to me), and also for someone for traveling mercies. Would appreciate a mention in your prayers for the next 3-4 days, please.

Love to all,
