Yes, Larry, that was the reason for going to Nebraska.  60 years is quite a landmark anniversary, and we wanted to be there for them.  I pray you and Pat do make that mark!

It clouded up, thundered and got dark yesterday afternoon, but no rain at all.  :(  We will keep praying!  We noticed yesterday that some of the wheat in our area is beginning to ripen!

John met me out at the cemetery, stayed for the Veterans' program, then went to lunch with me, Diane and Abby.  Now he is here for a while.  Good for him to get out and about.  He was sick for 3 or 4 days; seems better now.

This first Memorial Day since Beth passed away is tough.  I still miss her every day.  But I know she is happy and free--and whole--in heaven and that I will see her again.

I plan to work on the book some more; got 1300 words done yesterday; I believe I'm to about 125 pages now.

See you all tomorrow!

I was talking to Pat this morning.  We had to cut it short as we were at a medical appointment.  The doctors are talking about releasing her in 2 - 3 days.  Unfortunately she will need to go home as there are no openings in any rehab facility in Guelph or the surrounding areas.  She is concerned as she feels she cannot do what she needs to at home.  If she could afford it there are facilities that could take her but they charge $100 a day so for the month it would be $3000, and that is unmanageable for most people.

Please continue to keep her in prayer, that she will be at peace with the decisions that need to be made, and wisdom for the people making those decisions.

Thank you

Janet

Father God, I lift my sister Pat to You right now.
You know her every need, far better than she or any of us does.  I pray that a way will be made for her to enter a rehab facility in her city, by Your mighty power, and that she will receive the help she needs to recover from the hip replacement.  You know the end from the beginning, and You, Lord can do anything!  You tell us to ask, seek and knock!  So for Pat, right now, today, I ask these things, seek Your perfect will in her life and knock on the door of opportunity for her to receive the placement and the help she needs.  Trusting in Your Mighty Name, Jesus, Amen

Hi Everyone.  We have another overcast morning but no rain in the forecast until this afternoon.  My gauge says we have had 2 inches in the last two days and more on the way.  Flooding is now the problem in some counties around the Augusta area.  Our big activity for today is to get Pat to the dentist for the semi-annual cleaning at 10 am.  Then if her new shoes are ready we will stop and pick them up.  Then we may go out for lunch.  I do need to empty the ice bin in the freezer and also grind up some more cheddar cheese.  That will be it for today.

Janet, with the lack of rain will you have much of a wheat crop there in Kansas.  Glad to read that John is feeling better and was able to participate with you yesterday at the cemetery and then go to lunch with you all.  It sounds like you are coming right along on your book.

Judy, it sounds like Pat is doing well but sad she cannot go to the rehab as it will be very difficult for her to manage by herself at home.  Is there anyway that she could hire someone to come in a couple of hours each day to help her out and see that she has meals?  Thanks for keeping us advised.

Janet, I certainly join in your powerful prayer for Pat.

Carol

Judy:  Prayers for Pat - that she will receive the proper therapy for healing.  Perhaps, volunteers can learn to help in some way?

Carol

Larry:  The one good idea behind the Instant Pot is that it would save electricity by cooking so fast.

Janet:  Good wishes on your up and coming new book. Beth's story will inspire many people.

WE GOT AN INCH AND A HALF OF RAIN LAST NIGHT!!!  PRAISE THE LORD!!

We made a really quick trip to Amarillo and back today; left at 7:30 and got home at 6!  We needed to check on Darrel's brother-in-law, as he hasn't been answering his phone; and also on my nephew, who is hospitalized with a brain bleed which caused a stroke.  We found both of them doing well.  Norman has bad eye problems, is almost blind in his left eye, but otherwise seems to be managing pretty well since his wife, Darrel's only sister,Dolores passed away.  She died in January, after Beth died in December.  And Nephew Jess is doing rehab, and I could understand most of what he said (that has been a problem), was eating, did really well with that; then his therapist came to take him for another therapy session. He's very unsteady on his feet, and weak on his left side. It was good we went; they know we care!  The only other thing we did was get some half off flowers for next Memorial day!

I was hoping there was another report on Pat--will keep praying!

Thanks, Carol.  I pray the book will glorify God; honor Beth's life, and bless many!  I got another 1200 words done yesterday.  I'm up to the end of October in the timeline.

Hi Everyone.  It is another overcast morning.  After quite a bit of rain yesterday afternoon the chances are only about 20% for more rain today and we are to have a high of 83.  Pat's dental cleaning went well yesterday with no new cavities to be filled, which is always what you want to hear.  We did learn that in a few weeks our dentist will be moving his office and consolidating with his father's practice in another part of the Augusta area.  On the way back home we stopped at the Costco gas station to fill the tank and then went on over to our local Walmart as Pat needed some cosmetics.  We then went to the Daily Queen, which is on an out parcel where Walmart is and that their $5 lunch special.  We enjoyed a quiet leisurely lunch and then we didn't have to worry about dinner last evening as it was a big meal.

I got up about 6 am this morning and showered and then partially dressed and laid back down and read my emails, devotionals, and the new postings in the discussions I follow each day.  About 7 I decided I was ready to get up but as I started to put on my shirt I thought this would be a good day to finally clean out my closet and other clothes so before putting on my shirt for the day I went into the closet and checked out what clothes I wanted to dispense with.  Pat wants some of my discarded shirts for the fabric so she will get what she wants and the rest I will donate.  I still need to go through my bureau drawers and dispense with what I no longer wear or need.  I will do that later this morning.

Yesterday afternoon I had a call from my lung doctor's office asking if I could come in this afternoon for my appointment rather than in June. It was originally scheduled for May but they had rescheduled it.  They apparently had some cancellations this afternoon.  So I will do that at 3 pm and that will get that done for another year.  This evening at 5:30 we have our last Wednesday night dinner at the Church.  The menu is hamburgers and hot dogs with coleslaw and chili , French fries & sweet potato fries and all the trimmings and dessert.  It is a special occasion as we will be having a Roast & Toast for our current Associate Pastor, which will be leaving in June to become Pastor of two small Churches in another part of the State. Scott and perhaps Elizabeth will be coming out to the house afterwards to spend a couple of hours.  So it will be a relatively busy day.

Carol, as I mentioned earlier Pat fixed ribs in the Instant Pot and it took 23 minutes are the steam was up.  We then took them out and put on BBQ sauce and put them under the oven grill for a couple of minutes.  The meat easily came off of the bones as we ate it and it was very tasty.  In the past she has slow baked them in the over for several hours.

Janet, glad your area finally got some good rain.  That was a long day on the road to Amarillo and back today.  Glad Darrel's brother seemed OK but the brain bleed and stroke for the nephew isn't good.  Hopefully he will have a good amount of recovery from the stroke.  I did see the picture of Beth's gravestone you posted on Facebook.  It certainly is a very nice looking marker.

Carol

Three friends and I are going to visit the Fort Logan cemetery this morning.  All have husbands buried there and I have wanted to see the graves.  Friday, we will meet at a neighbor's house with a few other ladies for a luncheon and to celebrate a birthday.  So privileged to know these wonderful women.

Yesterday was earmarked for the VA (the new one being built is already 2 years behind schedule and massively overpriced) - Don had two appointments and all went very well.  With the uptick in traffic (leave now, please) we managed but it is really a crisis.  There is no way emergency can get through this city as fast as they should.  We stopped at Perkins for a late breakfast - I brought the blueberry muffin home for dessert.  We walked the neighborhood and, of course, were caught up in conversation.  Mainly about the new pastor and all the changes he made by firing staff and bringing in his friends from Chicago.  Quite a change.

Larry:  Is Pat making a quilt with your shirt fabric?  I was wondering how you would fix ribs in the pot - that sounds like a good plan.

Marilyn

I am going to the dr this morning for my annual exam. I had the blood work done last week.

Keith got up at 4:45am to go outside an check on the old cat from next door who has been living under one of the Azalea  bushes under the family room window. He keeps wanting to bring her in the house but I worry that  the other cats will bother her too much.  When we go to Sunriver next week  the person who feeds our cats will be feeding her too. I feel so sorry for the old girl she has a huge mat on her back that is amlmost half the length of her back and  is raised up about 1.5 inches of solid matted fur.

I do come to read every day but really don't have much to say. I hope everyon e is doing well and that Pat will be able to get into a rehab place instead of going to her home without any help.

Hello all, I am sitting in my entryway waiting for my delivered lunch to arrive. It's all enclosed, but with huge glass windows, and the storm door has glass panels. I have 2 huge plants in here that are thriving here.  I love sitting out here, especially the rocking chair, which was built by my grandfather.  He was so talented in building things, even violins!
Janet, I was in Amarillo yesterday too!  I got another injection in my right eye.  Have to go back in a month for checkup. My daughter drives me to my doctor appointments. Even local ones.  My hearing is so poor, I need her to be my hearing expert.
Lunch just arrived, time to partake while it is still hot, or at least warm.
This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Well here I am again ?. poking my head in to let y'all know I'm still ticking ? Like that Timex commercial of the past --- "takes a licking and keeps on ticking"  ;D

I just came from my appointment with the oncologist and I'm good to go for another 6 months.  I'm leaving tomorrow for California.  This time I'll be taking Amtrak because I just don't feel like driving down and back.  I always have my daughter drive when I'm there anyway, so no sense having an extra car (or renting one like I did last time I was there).

Two of my great grandkids are graduating from high school and another two are having birthdays so they figure I need to be there!  There's a BBQ scheduled for Saturday for the graduates and I'm not sure what else will take place for the birthday girls.

I'm hoping I can get in touch with my grandsons (Jean's boys) because they always seem to be busy or out of town or something else ....  of course I never see her girls. In fact, one of them has blocked everyone (especially me) and is trying to be invisible.  That's okay.  And Bryan has just about disappeared as well.  John has sold his house in Twain Harte, and is moving to Missouri where he is building himself a little house.  He told me Bryan was planning to move to L.A. but I have no idea if we haven't been in touch since Joy's memorial service in September, 2016.

I've been praying for Pat, and each of the needs represented here.  I know there are many but we serve a big God and, as my grandson said once: "God's got big hands!"

Y'all take care, now and I will be checking back in from time to time.   <3
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

I really enjoyed painting today!  Finished a bigger watercolor, and then did a card.  Tracy is trying to get us to 'loosen up' and just start painting, without any kind of drawing or sketching.  It was fun!

Larry, the way you described starting in or your closet sounds like the way I usually do things--completely spur-of-the-moment!  My closet is so overstuffed I really need to purge it!  I did the drawers not too long ago, so they're good for a while.

Janice, I thought about you yesterday and wondered if maybe you were in Amarillo, too!  Wish I had known where to find you--I would surely have tried!  Glad you get your main meal delivered; that's such a nice service.
Do they usually taste pretty good?

Marilyn, hello!  Good to see you pop your head in the door to say hello!

Carol, I don't even want to drive in Amarillo; for sure I couldn't (wouldn't) drive in the Denver area!  It's so sad how they are ruining things there by all the heavy traffic, plus the legalized sale of pot!
Glad you have good friends near you so you can have those pleasant visits!

Jane!!  Good to see you!!  I'll bet it doesn't feel possible to you for your great-grands to be graduating, does it?  Your trip to California by Amtrack sounds much less stressful than driving!  (To me, anyway)  My eyes will not allow me to drive at night, and I no longer enjoy driving in the daytime.  But driving here in our little town is fine, I can do that.

Jane, if you look in, please update us on Pat.  Thank you!

And Jackie, where are you hiding?  Touring around on that new scooter?  :)

'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Louisa M. R. Stead, 19th Century
Musician:  William J. Kirkpatrick, 1838-1921

'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, "Thus says the Lord!"

Refrain
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Refrain

Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

Refrain

I'm so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

Refrain

"'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus"
by Louisa M. R. Stead
The United Methodist Hymnal, No. 462

From her childhood, the call to missionary service was the guiding motivation for Louisa M. R. Stead (c. 1850-1917). Born in Dover, England, and converted at the age of nine, Stead came to the United States in 1871, living in Cincinnati. She attended a camp meeting in Urbana, Ohio, where she dedicated her life to missionary service. Ill health prevented her from serving initially. She married in 1875, and the couple had a daughter, Lily. Hymnologist Kenneth Osbeck describes a major turning point in the family?s life:

?When the child was four years of age, the family decided one day to enjoy the sunny beach at Long Island Sound, New York. While eating their picnic lunch, they suddenly heard cries of help and spotted a drowning boy in the sea. Mr. Stead charged into the water. As often happens, however, the struggling boy pulled his rescuer under water with him, and both drowned before the terrified eyes of wife and daughter. Out of her ?why?? struggle with God during the ensuing days glowed these meaningful words from the soul of Louisa Stead.?

The hymn, Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus? was inspired by this personal tragedy.

Soon after, Lousia and Lily left for the Cape Colony, South Africa, where Louisa worked as a missionary for fifteen years. She married Robert Wodehouse, a native of South Africa. Because of her health, the family found it necessary to return to the United States in 1895. Wodehouse pastored a Methodist congregation during these years until, in 1900, they returned to the mission field, this time to the Methodist mission station at Umtali, Southern Rhodesia (present day Zimbabwe).

Kenneth Osbeck records a message sent back to the United States shortly after her arrival in Southern Rhodesia:

?In connection with the whole mission there are glorious possibilities, but one cannot, in the face of the peculiar difficulties, help but say, ?Who is sufficient for these things?? But with simple confidence and trust we may and do say, ?Our sufficiency is of God.??

Her daughter Lily married after their return to Africa. Louisa retired because of ill health in 1911. Lily continued to serve for many years in South Rhodesia. Her mother passed away after a long illness in 1917 at her home in Penkridge near the Mutambara Mission, fifty miles from Umtali. Following her death, it was recorded that Christians in South Rhodesia continued to sing her hymn in the local Shona language.

While the exact date of the composition is not known, sometime between 1880-1882, Lousia Stead?s hymn was first published in Songs of Triumph (1882). The Rev. Carlton R., Young, editor of The United Methodist Hymnal, describes the hymn?s content as ?a series of loosely connected key evangelical words and phrases.? Indeed, the hymn is full of the language of piety common to the day in evangelical circles. Furthermore, the succession of stanzas lacks the usual progression of ideas leading to heaven that characterizes most gospel hymns.

Perhaps the hymn might be best described as a mantra on the name of Jesus. Indeed, ?Jesus? is sung twenty-five times if one sings all four stanzas and the refrain. Stanza one is a simple statement of ?trust in Jesus.? The singer is invited to ?rest upon his promise.? Though the ?promise? is not specifically articulated, it is assumed that all know that this is the promise of salvation. The stanza ends with ?Thus saith the Lord? ? a phrase, interestingly enough, that appears 413 times in the Old Testament in the King James Version, and is a reference to God rather than Jesus.

Stanza two continues the theme of trust, drawing upon the ?cleansing blood? of Jesus. The poet demonstrates her trust as she ?plung[es] . . . neath the healing, cleansing flood,? a possible reference to the William Cowper (1731-1800) hymn, ?There is a fountain filled with blood?: ?. . . and sinners plunge beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.? The typology of the cleansing flood may find its biblical roots in Genesis 6-7, the account of Noah and the great flood, or perhaps the blood and water that flowed from the crucified Christ?s side (John 19:34), or even a conflation of these ideas. Cowper?s hymn was probably well known to Stead, and she referenced it in her hymn.

Stanza three stresses that one should die to ?sin and self? by ?simply taking life and rest, and joy and peace? in Jesus. Stanza four is a personal witness by the author that she is ?so glad I learned to trust thee.? The final stanza concludes with a fleeting eschatological reference, ?thou art with me, wilt be with me to the end.? Though this reference to heaven is not as pronounced as one would often find in similar gospel hymns of this era, especially in Fanny Crosby. Referencing heaven in some way is virtually obligatory in this theological context.

The refrain establishes the Jesus mantra, singing his name five times, the last strengthened by adding the qualifying, ?precious Jesus.? Though the singer has ?proved him o?er and o?er,? the prayer is for ?grace to trust him more.?

Hi Everyone. We are headed to around 87 degrees this afternoon with only a less than 50% chance of rain throughout the day and evening.  Nothing planned for today other than to pick up my friend at the retirement home and we will go to coffee for about an hour.  I do need to get a loaf of bread at the Walmart near to where he lives and may try to do that before we go to coffee.

I did get in to see the lung doctor yesterday.  I didn't have to take the breathing test as I had the two previous years I have seen this doctor.  She did suggest that I get a 50 ft. tube and use the oxygen a couple of times a day and walk in our home.  I stopped at the medical supply store and they gave me the hose I needed but not the cannula piece that I would need to use it.  So I went back to the store before going to the Church for dinner and got hopefully what I need.  I will test it out today.  Fortunately, our home has a fairly long hallway that I can use for walking.  We are planning on having a repeat of the ribs, coleslaw and fresh sweet corn for our dinner this evening.  I have already set the table for the evening as I emptied the dish washer.  No sense in putting those items in the cabinets and then taking them out again.  I am waiting for Pat to get up and will likely then fix her breakfast.

Carol, I have to wonder if that new VA Hospital out your way will ever get built.   Glad that Don's appointments went well. It sounds like you have a nice day planned for tomorrow with your neighbor ladies.  It has been years since we have eaten at a Perkins as we have none close by.  Your new pastor sounds a bit like a football coach in firing old staff and bringing in new.

Marilyn, if you annual exam is anything like what we are having around here it is mainly talking with the doctor and him looking over the blood work results.  Apparently the doctors have decided the actually examining the patient was a waste of their time.  I have to wonder how much insurance companies influenced this decision.  It sounds like Keith has a weak spot for the cat.  Do you have more visits with Freckles scheduled for this coming week?  How many are you having in your Tai Chi class now as the last you spoke of it you said you were up to around 12 people.

Janice, your entryway sounds great.  We had a sunroom in the home we owned in Missouri for nine years.  It had windows that could be rolled out and back in and was a room we used for our dinette set and it had it own heater but not A/C so couldn't use it on hot days.  I bet you are glad to have that monthly trip for the eye shot over for another few weeks.  Do you get meals on wheels?

Jane, glad you got a good report from your oncologist.  I hope your trip to California is enjoyable on Amtrak and that you have a nice visit.  I bet your great grandkids  will be happy to have you there for the graduation and birthday parties.

Janet, you are such a fine artist I bet your "loosened up" painting is great.  I had been planning on cleaning out my clothes for sometime but it was an easy thing to put off until tomorrow.

Judy, thanks for the hymn posting and the interesting story related to it.  Is Pat still in the hospital?

Carol

I cannot find the papers showing my search for a new doctor - it has to be in another file.  Good day to all!  A young deer was spotted taking a nap on the front lawn a block away.  We have not seen them this year and now do not hear the coyotes in the ravine.  It is quiet.  Oldest son was at his desk in the mountains and a huge moose walked right by the window - such a gift to see wildlife.

Jane:  So good to hear from you.  Have a wonderful visit.

Larry: My 3 friends are widows - another gal was missing but we will meet for lunch on Friday and I only have to bring  a salad.  Our heat is up in your temperatures too.  There are the typical afternoon showers now so we just plan around the weather.  The poor planning of the VA is such a shame.  The staff is considerate and kind - I can't say enough good things about them.

Our oldest son stays overnights here so often that he wants to change out the bed - it is pretty old.  We say - go ahead, why not be more comfortable.  He is too tall to sleep on the newer trundle bed in the same room.

Hi Pat!  I hope you find relief from your pain and get into rehab.  Blessings to you.

Jane Walker

Well, I made it back in here this morning ?. I'm all ready to leave home but the bus to Eugene doesn't leave until 12:30 p.m. so I need to possess my soul in patience.  Nita is coming over to get me to the bus.  Amtrak has a bus from Coos Bay to the station in Eugene. They called me the other day to let me know I will also be on a bus from Eugene to Klamath Falls ? seems there's work being done on the tracks in that area.  I can handle that.

Janet, I have a great grandson who has already graduated from college!  Tomorrow his younger brother graduates from high school.  Yes, that really does boggle my brain!

All y'all take care now, and I'll be ba-a-a-ck

Larry My exam went well. Yes she does do an exam,  and listens to what I have to say. My cholesterol was up from 186 last year to 209 this year. A1C was 5.7 she said that was pre diabetic but to change my diet alot less fat  and I should be down in 6 months when I go back. she is ordering a mammo, Dexa scan, and either an MRI or X rays of my left knee and hip. She seems to think that one of those is what is causing the knee and hip pain.

I don't have any visits with Freckles until next week then there are two. We leave for Sunriver on the 9th to return on the 17 and she is going with us. She goes to the vet today for her shots and yearly exam.

Keith is definitely a cat person, We now have had 4 cats move over from next door. two live with us, one died in my arms and this poor little kitty. We also have our three.  Actually one of them, is mine that I got from Snipped when they were going to put him down because he has leukemia, I have had him for 5 years and he is still going strong, he is about 15 yrs old now.

I have a a couple more people sign up for my Tai Chi class but they don't all come at the same time. Tuesday I had  3 students. We did everything is very slo0w motion just for fun.

Janet, I was at the large building housing a number of eye doctors with different specialties on Wallace St.  Just a few blocks from the hospital on Coulter Street.  I can't remember the name of that hospital, but have been in it several times.  My husband was a patient there more than once.

Larry, yes, I get lunch meals delivered from Senior Meals, they will deliver to shut- ins if needed. I can drive, but seldom do so, my dtr drives me to appointments etc.

Hi Everyone.  We have a sunny morning today and are headed into the low 90's before the day is over.  Today is the day for the housekeeper and we plan to go pick up Pat's new shoes, that have finally come in, and then get our main meal out.  Yesterday the yard folks were finally able to mow and trim the yards and they now look very nice whereas they had been looking pretty shabby. Nothing else on the schedule for today and I am glad.

Carol, it can be so aggravating to know we have something and not be able to find it.  Yesterday I heard on the news that we have had rain 17 of the last 18 days and also that our drought is officially over, which is good news.  There is just a low probability of any more rain today.  It is nice that your son is willing to change out the bed.

Jane, sure hope you have a good bus/train ride on your trip. I will have two great grandchildren in high school next year.  The one is already in high school.  The third one will be in the 7th or 8th grade next year--I can't keep track of them as the time goes so quickly.  I look forward to hearing about your trip when you get back.

Marilyn, glad your exam went well.  The last two physical exams I have had the only touching that was done was to check my heart and lungs.  My father controlled his pre-diabetic condition with diet until he was last hospitalized and they started giving him insulin.  It sounds like you have a good doctor. Wow, that is a lot of cats.  One was enough for us.

Janice, glad you are able to get the Senior Meals.

I need to go to Dollar General; I also need to get my oil painting stuff together!  I will leave Sunday for my once a year class in Fowler.  We have a new teacher this time, one of our fellow students for many years.  Not sure it will work out, but every year, I'm afraid it will be the last year, so Dee and I are going again.  The little cafe where we always enjoyed eating lunch has closed permanently, we were told, so we need to take food along, especially for breakfast.  (Fowler is a very tiny town!)

I am still plugging along on my book.  I'm into mid-November in the timeline, and read though the time of Beth's passing last evening in my journal.  That wasn't wise.  I had such a return of the grief, and barely slept at all; finally fell asleep around 4 this morning.  Sigh......

It's HOT here!  I think 103 today!  Phew!

Well, this isn't getting stuff packed, nor groceries bought!  See you tomorrow!

Hi Everyone.  We are suppose to only get to 89 degrees today.  Once again we had showers last evening from some pop-up storms.  Our county was under a severe thunderstorm warning but we only got some moderate winds and then the rain.  Our neighborhood is having a garage sale today and our neighbors across the street are participating as they just put their house on the market a couple of days ago.  There have already been a good number of folks stopping to check the garage sale items out.  We did not accomplish what we had planned yesterday but put it off until today as Pat just wasn't up to going out.  So hopefully today we will get some strawberries and pick up her new shoes and also have our main meal out.  I may go to my meeting this morning but haven't decided for sure.

Janet, I hope you enjoy your painting today and find it relaxing.  You have us beat on high temperatures although it was warm here yesterday.

Good morning!  The God of peace has graciously come to my rescue again!  How I love Him!  I'm looking forward to the class in Alcohol Inks I'm attending today.  And tomorrow after church will head to Fowler for that class.  I think it's predicted to be HOT, so won't be surprised by that.  But how thankful I am that we almost always have very pleasantly cool nights and early mornings.

I have done a little on the book this morning, now must get myself dressed and head to class!

I wish you all a very pleasant Saturday!!

We went to the 5 PM church service today - it has communion as do all services but no choir.  Don could understand the pastor.  Such a blessing.  Two of our neighbors, ( both widowed) attend the same service so that would be nice.

This morning was dedicated to sorting stuff for donations - really making final decisions and forcing myself to pack boxes of things seldom or never used and no one in the family needs or wants those things.

Jane:  Safe and wonderful visit for you!

Larry:  I have an appointment with a doctor next week.  She is connected with the University and that is really top treatment.  Cannot believe it - first, they said nothing was open then a minute later said this doc has 15 minutes at noon - I said that I will take it so fast.

Hi Everyone.  It is a very foggy morning here but we are to have a sunny day getting up to 93 degrees this afternoon.

I am ready for Sunday School and Church this morning.  I am bringing the devotional for today at Sunday School and also expect I will lead the singing if none of the choir members (we have two or three in our class) are present.  We brought home left overs from eating out at noon yesterday.  We went to Pizza Hut and started to order a medium sized pizza when the waitress told us that a large pizza was actually cheaper than the medium. So now we have our lunch for today probably with a salad.

We did stop for some strawberries, a couple of ears of sweet corn and 4 beautiful peaches on our way to the shoe store.  When we got to the shoe store we found it was closed yesterday due to a death in the family and would reopen on Monday.  I am looking forward to the finish of the golf tournament today.

Janet, I have never heard of Alcohol Inks.  Is this something new in the painting world?  I hope you have a wonderful time with the ladies painting this week.  It will be a nice break for you from your normal schedule.

Carol, it sounds like the 5 pm Saturated service is a blessing, especially for Don.  Some day your kids will appreciate your efforts to eliminate seldom or never used items.  It is hard to image what pressure doctors are under with every 15 minutes of their office time scheduled.  Glad you will be getting established with the new doctor this week.

I'm popping in to greet you all this morning before we leave for church.  Right after church I will load my painting gear and groceries I'm taking into the old car and head out for Fowler!  I don't want it to be setting out in the hot sun any longer than necessary--the painting stuff and food, that is.  Can't do much for the car!  Darrel wants to get the tires rotated on the Lincoln this week.  And because Fowler so often has wild weather, it's better I take the old car.  Dee and I have been in Fowler through floods, tornadoes and hailstorms; none of which are kind to cars!

The class yesterday was SO much fun!!!  I posted pictures on Facebook of the tiles we did, if you'd like to look at them.  I love the bright colors and the fact that you can't really control what the ink is going to do!  And if you spray a little alcohol on them, even after they dry, it will change them again.
But after you put the resin on, everything is permanent.  I loved the class!

Carol, I need to do exactly what you are doing!  And I keep telling myself I will get at it soon..but there are so many other things vying for my attention!

Abby sent out an update to all her supporters, and she is having a great time in LA.  It's going to be a summer that will change her life, I believe--and for the better, which is wonderful.  She's a great kid, an growing into a caring, Christ-like adult.  It sounds like they will be so busy nobody will have time to get into any mischief, even if they wanted to!

I won't be posting again until I get home on Friday, so maybe Saturday I can post again.  I'll miss you!

Hi Everyone.  It looks like we are going into a period of sunny and hot days for awhile and that the rain has moved on.  It was 94 yesterday and very humid.  Church ran about 15 late as it was Graduation Sunday.  Our graduates from high school and college this year were recognized.  Our Church awards quite a number of scholarships and those were awarded.  The High School graduates participated in the service and two of them spoke rather than having a sermon.  Afterwards the seniors and their parents were treated to a nice lunch in our Fellowship Hall.

I didn't realize that the golf tournament had started early and when I tuned in at 3 pm it was in a playoff already. We are still having phone problems as apparently the signal is so weak it won't work on Pat's phone and at night it won't work on mine either.  I went out on the driveway last night and the phone worked fine but could not call out inside the house.  I will be looking into this today as this is unacceptable.  If Pat is up to it we will pick up her shoes and run a couple of other errands. That will be it for today.

Janet, I saw the painting on Facebook that you mentioned.  Glad you enjoyed the class.  I guess by the time you read this your week of painting will be over.

My cell phone and my old laptop stopped working this week and I have a dental appointment tomorrow.  We can get a free SIM card for the older phone so that can be solved.  This $39 kindle is fine only difficult to
