JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

We had a storm last Friday.  They say 9 tornado touched down in the St. Louis area, a lot of houses were badly damaged down our street.  Some two story homes became one story homes and others were destroyed.  We spent Friday night at Church and Saturday night we stayed at a hotel.  We had a tree on our house and the police told us not to stay there.  After we got the tree off we felt pretty safe to stay in the house.  Our electric came on Monday after UE put up a new pole and put the wires back up.  We have Charter internet and Charter didn't put their lines back up until today, so I have been able to go on the internet with my cell phone but I wasn't going to try and upload pictures with my cell phone.  I finally am able to get pictures up so here are some of them.

Oh my what a mess!!!  Glad you and family are safe!  That is the main thing!

Wow!  You sure did have a storm!   :o  Praise God that you and your family are all safe.

A great series of pictures showing the damage to your house and the clean-up.

Thanks, Judy and Jeanne.  We has a big ash tree fall on the house and two big pine trees fall in our back yard.  We have a lot of wood in our front yard.  We were told the county was going to come by and collect the wood.  We have Allstate insurance, we have not had an adjuster come out to our house yet because they say they have a lot of homes to look at.  Allstate told us to go ahead and get the tree off our house so they could see the damage to the house better.  We went ahead and cut the pines up in the back yard and moved the wood to the front yard, we needed to get the wood to the front yard for the county to collect.  We have picture of the trees so that should be good enough.

I would gladly take that wood off your hands!!!  Do you know one one with a wood stove? I am sure they would appreciate the wood.

It is awful when that happens.  The damage to your home appears to be the garage area???   Know you are prayed for.

Yes, the damage from the tree falling on the house is the garage.  We did have a person drive by with a truck pulling a trailer ask for some wood.  We told him he could have it.  I hear the ash is good for fire places but the pine is better for outdoor burning.

JudyB

I'm glad someone was able to make use of it.  Using the pine creates creosote in the chimney so I understand that.  If a chimney creosotes up it can lead to a chimney fire and all that is involved with that. People who make maple syrup like pine/spruce as the fire is hotter than others, even though it burns down quickly.

Update us on the outcome of the adjusters visit.  We are so thankful that no one was hurt.

Well, on our brick wall Allstate only allowed a little over a thousand dollars.  The contractor's bid was for over eight thousand.  Another Allstate adjuster had to come out to look at it again.  Allstate did raise the amount on the brick work so it looks like they are going to start work on our house.  I do see some trusses laying in our driveway so they should start on Monday.  It sure takes a long time.  The storm was on 5/31/13.

JudyB

It takes time to resolve these things.  Will be praying that all works out for you.

Meagan is living in St. Louis, and called me as the storm approached.   She's afraid of storms, and I talked her through it.   I got to a site that has the St. Louis area weather radar, and I tracked the storm as it went.   Fortunately, her complex was not damaged.

Sorry that you got hit so hard.   It's a genuine disruption.   I'm thankful none of you were hurt.

My wife and I finally got the big stump removed from the side of our house.  You can see from the first and third pictures what it looked like.  The man who removed the tree from off the house cut it down to where there was about two feet above the grass.  We used a sledge hammer to knock the dirt from the roots and a chain saw and limb cutter to cut the roots.  I have a small chain saw so I had to cut the stump in a lot of little sections.  We had to dig around the stump and remove the dirt that fell from us using the sledge to get the dirt from the roots that were sticking up.  We had to dig down below ground level to cut the stump low enough.  My wife thought we needed a picture with a flag for conquering the stump.  We finished it yesterday and took the picture today.
