Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

Amazing shot!       One of the best I've seen posted here.  Can you give us some details about how you shot it?

Thanks!

Thank you very much. The details are.... just pure blessing from God. I can't tell you the camera settings because my external hard drive is packed for a move. I was in Montana shooting Bison and saw a Harrier Hawk about 200 yds in the distance. While I was hoping for it to come closer this Pheasant got spooked up in front of me. My 7d was in high speed shooting mode and I just threw the camera up to my eye, caught a glimpse of the pheasant and mashed the shutter button and swiveled from the waist. The camera fired 7 or 8 times. This all happened in about a second of time and was over. I got about 2 or 3 usable photographs out of the 8.  My usual mode for shooting BIF is AV with  ISO of 400 ( hopefully) which, with any luck gives me 1/2000 of a second shutter and 5.6 to 8 aperture. I control the shutter speed with the ISO settings. I shoot a Canon 7D and a 100-400L 4-5.6 zoom. That lens is on my camera 95% of the time.

Blessing indeed.  To get one of those, you need to do everything right and get lucky.   Well done.

Wow this is beautiful.  What kind of bird is it?  A real WOW shot!

Hi Judy, I believe that it is a female Ring Necked Pheasant. The males have a bright red head.

JudyB

Well it is a real beauty!

I've read that the 7D is fantastic for shooting BIF!  You sure affirmed that!
