got my friend to hold this little guy for me..great poser he was.the bird that is. haha

I find it amazing that he would sit on your friend's hand!  He is a beautiful little thing!  Did you get any other birds?

An unusual bird - at least as far as I'm concerned!    Where is this native?

these guys are native to Qld , australia, they live in the rainforests.  they are such a beautiful bird, well at least the male is, the female is a boring old grey/brown colour.  as is the case with a lot of birds.  will post a few more later.

Are they all so tame?  These bower birds?

no, these are at a rainforest retreat, where you can feed them.  the bower birds are only fed by the rangers, but i found out what they like..sultana's, so i bring a box or 2 with me. and when the ranger's not looking, i hold my hand out,and they come and sit on my hand for a feed.

I would love to "see" that in person!  Perhaps I should put that on my bucket list!
