Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

WOW

YOu have some great shots here.  Did you use a telephoto lense to take them?

We have these up here as well.  Have you ever thought of selling your pictures?  You have a good eye.

Barbarian

Yes, I have a 70-300 zoom, and it does a pretty good job on these.   I have thought of selling pictures, but I don't think I want the aggravation of starting another business.

Here's something I got this morning, when I took the dog for a walk, down by the lake:

what kind of bird is it?  Orange bill I am not sure of it.

I love the feathery back it has.  The white is so crisp and such a contrast to the green.

Selling photos is a difficult thing to get into isn't it?

Pat

My goodness!  A white heron?  Or....

This is the Great White Egret.   They look a lot like cattle egrets, except they are much bigger.   The funny thing is, this fellow and a great blue heron come to the little lake near my house, and hunt each summer morning.

They very carefully avoid each other, as they are competing for the same resources.   Apparently, they have an understanding as to which side of the lake each will be working on.

These are skittish birds, but they have finally given up and tolerate my presence so that I can get close enough for a good shot.

We have egrets and herons around here, mostly near Humboldt Bay.  They're very closely related.  In fact, the only difference I can see is the color.  Don't know if they roost in the same place or not.

Barbarian

In the rookeries back in the Trinity River bottoms near Dallas, I have seen several species of heron/egret in the same tree as they settle down for the night.  But they do seem to prefer their own kind.  Usually, they sort out by tree.

Birds of a feather really do flock together.

Self-portrait with my cell phone.   Not the most flattering shot.

Lovely photos ... very crisp and clear.

We have a riparian area here in Cochise County and I snapped a photo of a great blue heron although not as clear.  The thing is, it's surprising the number of birds that visit our high desert as they migrate.
