Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

JennyW: Autumn is shaping up to be quite beautiful this year! 2021-10-02, 12:24:03

Well, aren't they the cutest little things!? They sure are designed well--to blend in with their nesting material.

Nice depth of focus.

Thanks, Whistlinsadler.  It was very hard to spot them, but we knew kind of where to look since we'd seen the parents in the  area.  The wind was blowing quite hard at the time and I had to time my capture when that green bush was up above their heads as much as possible.  LOL

This is what they look like at 9 days old...

and 3 weeks...

I'd say the ones in my original post are probably a month or so old.  More young burrowing owls, from last summer here: http://www.shekinahphotography.com/burrowingowltour

How sweet.  I am surprised that the parents let you hold them!

Great pictures!

I'm not sure I'd want to take a chance that the parents might object!   :D

They were probably tame birds from an aviary or something. I bet not many people actually get to hold a wild owl. :)

Sorry, I guess I should've given more explaination...the ones being held are part of a study with Boise State University.  These are from a tour that I went on with them last year as part of the Birds of Prey Festival.  They are in artificial burrows.  If you click on the link at the bottom of my first post, you will see the gallery of the tour with further comments about the experience and photos of the man-made burrows.  Not just anyone can make a burrow like this, you must have a special permit.

It sure was!  I even got to hold one, but I forgot to have someone take my picture.  :(

That's part of the reason I was so happy to get that photo of the babies when just out looking for them.  No way to tell when they're gonna be old enough to venture out of the burrow.  When the parents first come home from migrating, you can see their burrow entrances, but by the time the babies come out, the prairie grasses are so high, it's very hard to be able to get a photo.  I think it's so cool how God planned even that, as protection for them.  I took the photo below in early spring.  See how unprotected the babies would be if they were to come out before the grass grows in so tall?  Amazing God we have...
